I'm really interested in finding out if we can connect the William
Mackway born in 1701 in Galloway with the William Mackway born about
1815 in NY, our known ancestor. It would enrich my "story" as a 1775
re-enactor at our state park. We have lots of daffodils (still, began a month ago), and hyacinths scenting the air delightfully. Our apricot and almond blossoms are faded, peaches underway, and crabapple beginning to leaf out. I really enjoy spring. Hope you are well and enjoying your world. AnnMarie 04/08/08 |

Luckily, we didn't get snow in Appalachia last night. Our 20 peonies
are up, leafed out, and ready to bud. They can't handle a freeze, and
neither can our blossoming cherry and apple trees. The apricots,
peaches, and almonds are into early fruit production and also
vulnerable. Our berries (blackberries, raspberries, bilberries,
blueberries, strawberries) are still just leafing, not yet flowering.
Last year we lost all our fruits with five days of hard freeze at Easter
time (April again). Enjoy your spring when it arrives. I really like the longer spring and fall here, and milder summer and winter. AnnMarie 04/14/08 |
