Finding out about Frances home town Chapter 1 |
|
We are fortunate to have found on the internet a person who lives in the USA and is from the very area that Frances came with family still there. Kozera, Marta -Majer email
Don't know anything
about Vira, but could find out. Her sister lives in Hosterdaky.
Marta
I know Vira Majerova,
she is my generation. She is a cousin of my cousin, but not
related to me. She has a sister Jarmila (Jarka) . Jarka is a
friend of my aunt.
The relation is
through my fathers sister, who married her father from
Hosteradky. :)
Marta
I was told that Jarmila is somewhat confused and living alone and that it would not be a good idea to talk to her.
The letters came from
Eza ?, he would a nephew or cousin of your wife Fran. I made copies
and returned the originals to him.
Actually my relatives
obtained and returned those letters, I did not have a chance to see
him. They were written in the early seventies, Frances described
family matters, Easter, Thanksgiving, illness, children's families.
I understand, that there
is a granddaughter of Eza, who is studying hotel business or
tourism, and should know English and have access to computer.
Sorry for these bits and
pieces, but my time there is very limited and time with family very
special.
Take care,
Marta
A name and address plus phone number
would be helpful. Once we get one name information (perhaps we
can start with Jarmila) the rest maybe easier to obtain. Do you
know the address of Jarmila and is her name still Majer or that
of her husband?
How did you receive the letters to
Ruzena? Can you translate and email what they say them? What
happened to Ruzena?
We would write to them in english
but perhaps they can translate locally. We could then send
pictures.
Ralph and Fran
Hello Frances,
I am glad you liked the
book. Your cousin Jarmila lives in the house where your mother use
to live.
I still don't have the
whole picture which of your relatives are living in Hosteradky now.
So far I know of three families.
We will be in Czecho
again at the end of April and will visit my family there. I will try
to get you a contact.
The letters that I have
are in Czech, and were written by your mother to a niece, Ruzena.
Take care,
Marta Kozera

immigration ships log my guess is the church sponsored was in this town. There are two travelers who show Coraopolis Pa as their home. They are marked non immigrant alien status in the log.the ages are 28 and 22. There are 16 people going to Coraopolis Pa 14 are shown as missionaries and two as servants. My bet they were listed as servant for a reason (indenture?)which we do not know. |
