John Dexter Osborn, blacksmith, born N.Y.
21years old Elizabeth Massey born Kalamazoo Mi.16 years old.
Witnesses: Joshua Henshaw, Charlotte Henshaw, residents Paris
Twp. Parents names not listed.
This is all listed in Book 6 page 259 Weddings
I am still at a loss as to how John Dexter
being born in 1849 could be only 21 years old in 1882.
Eliz. birth date would then be 1866.
Possibly a mistake on the application or a fabrication as to his age. This is all I could find . Dick Osborn 8/27/08 Dick Osborn was also from a skilled Blacksmith family. Read his book. http://www.geocities.com/oceanbreez.geo/OSBORNE/osborn_thomas_england_ct.htm |

Back to our Cousins today
Both Jerry and Dick have agreed to make what they submitted as a Book public and open. However, the private sections remain.

The Osborn are very creative people as shown by the use of famous wood to create images and given to their children for posterity. Dick was lucky enough to have a family that saved such a work of our family artist John Dexter Osborn. I must say my father Ralph Waite Sr was a very good artist and this Osborn family heritage maybe the source of this artistic dna gene. We present this work as a sample of what is left to us. There maybe more if Dick can find it. |

Consider all of the craftmenship in your 50 years of blacksmith trade as art for the future generations to see. Don't leave it in the dust - your life work was an art - even if you just viewed it as work. think of your Osborns grandkids. So glad you can still contribute. You may not know how important each minor data saving is as the future clues for your ancesty. Ralph

Jason's records show DSO
1826 birthdate.) On the back of the picture I found it stated: To Chas
(Osborn) > Dexter Schuyler Osborn 63 years old . then the date 1893.
On the back of the picture of Sally Ann ( there was also a little girl
on the picture that I cropped off- named Rose Uhl) it stated "
Brother - mother send this picture to you have you ever seen a prettier
little girl than Rose?" To the best of my knowledge Sally 'Ann's
daughter was Chloe who married Charles Uhl and they had 3 children,
Charles Dexter, Marie and Mabel . Marie Married Ross Timmerman, Mabel
married a man named Gotham. Charles wife was Fern , but I don't remember
her maiden name. 11/8/02 Dick Osborn
I
will copy the pictures all on one page and send them to both you
and Jerry Osborn. Maybe between the three of us we can figure
out who these people are. I just got these pictures in the
last 3 days. One of my nephews had this old album and just
recently loaned it to me and lo and behold there were the
pictures of both Dexter S. and Sally Ann Osborn and this both
surprised and please me greatly. 11/7/02 Dick

Family Group 4http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~tlosborne/AusburnSurnameProject/subgroups/subgroup04.htm Probable Descendants of Thomas Osborne and Mary Goatley of Ashford, Co. Kent, England
This family group now has twenty-five people and is the largest Family Group in the project. With the new members in this group, their results, and the additional connections to Thomas m Mary Goatley, there is more evidence that everyone in this group is related in some way to this immigrant Thomas Osborne. So the name of this group has been changed, as above, as had been contemplated earlier.
Three groups now know how they are related between themselves: A group of seven, with Gerald, Nancy, Wayne, Bartley, Mark, Daniel and Darlene, and Ralph Waite and Dick Osborn now have their ancestors all the way back to John Osborn of Ashford, Kent, England, ancestor of the immigrant Thomas Osborne m Mary Goatley. Joseph M Osborn and Gerald E Osborne know how they are related; and John P and Denver J Osborne know how they are related. The remaining people still do not know how they connect to anyone else, but with the dna results consistently indicating that they are descendants of this Thomas, there can be only a few missing generations to find.
Several people in this FG have had the 25- and 37-marker tests; see the Alleles table. This has provided enough information to establish a most likely Ancestral Haplotype by taking the majority value for each allele, and I have added a line for that in the Alleles table. However, with the latest members, the majority vote for the value on Allele 391 now favors a value of 12 for the most likely value of that Allele in the ancestral haplotype. This now makes David M Osborne the sole bearer of the 37-marker Ancestral Haplotype, and each other person has at least one mutation from it. Each person can now compare their results to the Ancestral Haplotype to get a better understanding of the mutations in their line.
The hypothetical scenario that was previously worked out to explain the dna test results is still shown to illustrate the approach, but needs to be reworked in light of more recent members and their tests.
Ancestral Lines
Below are the individual ancestral lines as far back as they are known. Hyperlinks are to that persons listing in the Linked Family Records at Osborne Origins.
Descendants of John Osborne
There is now a large group who can trace their lines back to Thomas and earlier. Previously, Nancy and Wayne had their lines back to Jeremiah m Mary Newman, but could go no further. Recent research by Joe and Lee has convinced them that the father of this Jeremiah is likely to be another Jeremiah which is was previously listed as two separate people. At the suggestion of Lee, I have listed both of these Jeremiah’s as the father of Jeremiah m Mary Newman. See Note 3 below for more on this situation. This allows the connection of Nancy and Gerald’s lines to those four going back to Thomas m Mary Goatley and now connects the people shown below. See the Notes for caveats.

Note 1: Lee Osborn has identified primary sources of information back to Thomas Osborne-12724, but not earlier. The ancestors of Thomas shown here are believed by some people to be his ancestors and are shown here with this caveat until better documentation is found.
Note 2: According to research that Gerald Osborn, Joe Osborn, and Lee Osborne have done, the records are clear enough about who Phineas’ (b.1760-1770) relatives are to know from circumstantial evidence that Ephriam Osborn (b Abt 1690) is his grandfather. The problem is that Ephraim and Mary had three sons whose families aren't known -- John, Daniel, and Phineas (b. 1735) -- and currently there are no records giving a clue as to which of these is father of Phineas (b. ca1766). In order to continue Gerald’s ancestors as far back as is known, I have listed the three possibilities for Phineas’ father, and then continued with Phineas’ known grandfather.
Note 3: The problem at this point is that there is primary documentation for two Jeremiah Osborn’s, now shown separately as Jeremiah Osborne-12665, and Jeremiah-5482 on Lee’s Osborne Origins. There is documentation that Jeremiah-12665 is the father of Jeremiah-4828 m Mary Newman, who is Nancy and Wayne’s ancestor, but no indication of who his father is. (See Lee’s comment for Jeremiah-12665.) So Nancy and Wayne were stalled at this point. On the other hand, Jeremiah-5482 is known to be the son of Jeremiah-5389 who is the son of Stephen m Sarah Stanborough and connects from there to Thomas m Mary Goatley. In view of the dna results it is believed likely that these two Jeremiahs are actually the same person so I have shown them both here with this caveat until better documentation resolves this issue.
